WORKSHOPS 2010

February 5, 6, 7 MUDBUCKET POTTERY Myrtle beach, SC
Making an Impression
info@mudbucketpottery.com

The workshop will focus on larger than life utilitarian pottery for
occasional use. We will pay attention to the details on larger than
life casseroles, pitchers, bowls and plates so they may be used for
celebration and presentation.
My specialty over the years has been sectional or composite throwing
where I add many pieces together to make one vessel. Students that
normally cannot throw more than a few pounds of clay often throw with
ease 3- 5 times as much after the session.
Recent work has been an exploration of textures using roulettes,
stamps and many found objects. The maker’s marks and details of
process are what I am interested in leaving in the finished work.
My return to graduate school at Utah State University has opened up
new thoughts, new tricks and new insights into making work that
expresses the character of the maker.
